Eye Brook Bioblitz
On Sunday 13th May, we joined A Focus On Nature for their 24-hour Bioblitz along the Eye Brook river in the Welland Catchment. The Bioblitz involved surveys of a wide variety of species including moths, bats, birds, trees, insects, mammals and river invertebrates. We assisted AFON members in river-dipping in the Eye Brook and mini-beast identification. It was a great opportunity to engage children from the local communities in river-species identification. Overall, plenty of life was discovered within the river, including the freshwater shrimp, the bullhead fish, the cased and case-less caddisfly larvae, and leeches.
